Joyful Movement

Adjustments.jpeg

It’s true: body movement has numerous psychological and physical benefits. AND many people struggle to find peace when moving their body. Rigid rules about pacing, reps, time, schedules, and burning calories can get in the way of presence of mind.

Is there more to moving than weight change and appearance? We don’t tell kids to go run on a treadmill so they can change their bodies or burn calories. We encourage them to go play because we want them to have fun, socialize, be creative, and manage their energy. These are the conditions that lead to psychological and physical benefits.

What makes us so different from kids? When and why did we stop playing? Ultimately, we lose joy when when we only move to punish ourselves for eating certain foods or amounts. I urge you to consider what joyful movement might look like in your life. And how is it similar or different to your current routine? 📸: @bodyimagemovement
