BODY IMAGE AND EATING DISORDER RECOVERY
Are you plagued with constant thoughts about food, weight, and your body size? Do your thoughts, rigid eating, and exercise schedules get in the way of your health, happiness, or relationships? Although extremely hard, it is important that you talk to somebody about what you’re going through. These types of thoughts and behaviors can quickly get out of control and may even lead to an eating disorder. It is never too late to ask for help. You are not alone in this struggle and we would love to support you as you explore your relationship with your body and food. We are here to meet you where you are at.
BODY IMAGE
Body image is how you see yourself when you look in the mirror or when you imagine yourself in your mind. It includes both how you feel about your body and how it feels being in your body. Body image work can be done to improve well-being, as a prevention for eating disorders, or as part of the recovery process from an eating disorder. Dr. Tackett is specialty trained in processing and decreasing body image distress. She works with all age groups in individual format using talk therapy and expressive arts.
EATING DISORDER RECOVERY
Dr. Tackett is specialty trained in the identification and treatment of eating disorders. She can work with all age groups and can provide individual, family, couples, and group therapy. She works closely with registered dietitians, physicians, psychiatrists, dentists, and other health professionals in Lubbock and West Texas to provide the recommended multidisciplinary care. Treatment is available to those suffering from Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder, Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder, Other Specified Feeding or Eating Disorder, Diabulimia, Orthorexia, Relative Energy Deficiency in Sports (RED-S) syndrome, Disordered Eating, and Body Image Distress.
Dr. Tackett recommends a combination of individual and family/couples therapy to treat eating disorders. She provides meal educations, emotional coaching, education to family and support system, and treatment team coordination.
All clients will be medically, nutritionally, and psychologically evaluated at the initial session to ensure that a higher level of care is not warranted for medical stabilization or behavioral interruption. For those in eating disorder treatment, teletherapy can be used for appointments service if medical stability and infrequent use of behaviors have been determined.
