Sports Strategies Series: The Wrap Up
By Jacob Daheim, MA
Thank you to everyone who has followed me on this journey with the Sports Strategies Series. It has been an absolute pleasure to help you sharpen your mental skills to thrive and perform at your peak. We covered some excellent strategies along the way, which I hope were relatable and useful to you.
Here are some of the topics that we covered in this series:
Goal Setting
Motivation
Mindfulness
Imagery
Communication
Energy Management
Time Management
Self-Confidence
Self-Talk
Performance Anxiety
Each one of these strategies can help you enhance performance, cope with the pressures of competition, recover from injury, maintain performance plans, set and reach your goals, enjoy your sport, and transition after sports. Even for non-athletes, these strategies can be extremely useful for those looking to perform at their highest level.
Although this blog series has come to a close, the journey towards improvement does not have to stop here. Just as training your body physically for the rigors of competition is an ongoing process, training your mind is as well. Providers at Tackett and Bradstreet can continue to help you in your mental training. We can help you with each one of these strategies using a personalized and in-depth approach. We can set up individualized treatments just for you, to better help you achieve your goals. We can also help you incorporate other strategies that we didn’t have time to get into in this blog series. As examples, we could help you with:
Injury Recovery
Pre-Performance Routines
Excelling Under Pressure
Concentration
You might also want support with mental health concerns that are affecting your sport performance.
Many people find it helpful to work with a mental health professional who understand athletic culture and experiences. Providers at Tackett and Bradstreet have this knowledge and are ready to help.
I have sincerely enjoyed sharing mental skills with you and look forward to directly working on these strategies with members of our community in the future. Thank you again for following along and I hope you enjoy my final cheesy joke.
